    Taurus pt111 Millenium

Anybody on here have anything to say about the gun?
I have an opportunity to purchase one in great condition from a buddy, for what I think is very cheap considering prices i've seen. I do not like the trigger pull, and from what I've researched, you can NOT do a trigger job? Other than that, it seems to be an OK handgun.
I am hoping for a deal on a 1911 on here, but if it does not work out, this is my second choice. I would prefer the 1911 of course, but am a few bucks short. Hope it works out.

I'm hoping you guys on here have some input for me! Should I buy ($250) or pass? Comes with a few mags too.

I have one (for sale) and its been 100% reliable through about 200 rounds. I like the thumb safety and it has a hex key lock which is useful when you have small kids in the house - it can be loaded and unlocked in seconds - the main reason I bought mine. The DAO trigger takes some getting used too. from what I understand on the Taurus boards is about after 500 rounds (or some dry firing ) it sweetens up a bit as parts get polished. Its small and light. pretty easy to take down and clean. Like most Taurus' its a good gun....for the price.

Sounds to me like you've already pretty much decided on what to do.. can't say I disagree at all with your choice. I would say that if you don't like the trigger, don't buy the gun. Yes, that means even if the 1911 deal falls through. I mean, if you don't really like the gun, you're either not going to shoot it and buy something else or just sell it and buy something else.. so why waste the time? Its a great gun in its price range (Which isn't very much) but it isn't for everyone.. and if you "settle" for it.. you'll probably just end up getting rid of it shortly after. $250 is definately a great price for it though, so its not like you'd be losing money.

        is it a pt111 or pt111 pro?

I had the pt111 pro and sold it. Why I did it I dont really know because i liked it very much. I must have been hurting for money at the time. Yes the trigger takes some getting use to but it is nothing you can overcome. It is not bad, its just different. For the feature taurus decided to add to these pistols, the long take up is necessary.

Bottom line is, for $250, it is a good price and you should get it. 1911s are in a whole other class by themselves. There is no comparing the 2 because of its size, design and purpose. The only thing they do the same is they put holes in whatever you aim them at.

no doubt the 1911 is a whole other class, thats for sure! This is just something I was tossing around. I want the 1911 real bad, the Taurus is going to be there when I'm ready. Its not up for sale locally, as a matter of fact, my buddy has a significant collection of fire arms. The only ones he will sell, is the Taurus and a Ruger Mark II?.

I dont know if its a pro or not. I do remember it said Millennium on the slide. Do you know the difference between the pro, and regular PT111? I know not all triggers are the same. I dont think its as bad as my buddys Smith & Wesson Sigma .40 s&w, thats for sure! not THAT is a foul trigger pull

I have PT145, and while the gun is reliable, the mags have given me problems. Dunno how that translates to the PT111, but $250 for a PT111 I think that's a pretty good deal. I see it as a workhorse gun. I can get it dirty and bang it around and stuff and not feel too bad about it. At least, not as bad as I would feel if I did the same with my Sig...
