Does anyone know of a place in the Bay Area where I can get a Les Baer, without having to order directly from Baer and paying the FFL transfer fees?

I agree on ordering from John at ProLoad. I bought a PremiereII and it cost me less than the MSRP even with shipping and DROS. If you really want to see one in person Reed's Range had them in stock last time I looked, but expect to pay more that the MSRP, plus add sales tax to that.

I saw 2 or 3 at the Gun Vault in Mountain View.

Then I went to the Reeds Sporting Goods in Santa Clara and they had a couple for $1700~$1900 and one in the $2700 range all Les Baer too.


Good luck and from shooting only a TRS holly crap these are tight tight tight. They will not outshoot a Kimber or Springfield, but the quality fit and finish is apparent. The muzzle flip with the TRS seemed noticeably less than the Kimbers too. I think this was due to the TRS being super tight and under 200 rounds.

You could also try out davidson's gallery of guns. I paid ~$100 more than if i bought from Proload and a kichen table FFL. But I felt like giving my business to my local range that I like.

I gave my local Kitchen table FFL a chance too by ordering it through Davidson, I guess he didn't want my business and made it sound like a bothersome to him.

The way the davidsons deal works, your ffl is already signed up with them. You browse for the gun you'd like online. If it's available a list pops up with local retailers and their OTD price. Pick one of the retailers. Pay a deposit with your CC. Davidsons ships out your gun. You pay the balance and start DROS at the retailer.

The dealer that the gun gets shipped to from davidsons still makes a profit. Davidson is a very easy company to work with if your a dealer. It takes all the legwork out of ordering merchandise for the dealer. They don't make as much if you just walk-in and buy, but they still make a percentage. Most dealers have accounts set up with Davidson's and they have an agreed mark-up percent. Each dealer account with Davidson's is different because of percentage of mark up. Look up Auto Life Outdoor, they have a 5% mark up, which is dirt cheap in the gun business.

If you want to look at LB, Reed's have them for sale, but most importantly as a rental (TRS).

SportingArms.com have LB at very reasonable price, at least when they quoted me on Premier II.
