    USP 45 Question

Does the full size H&K USP 45 have a lanyard ring on the back? or do they come with that HK lock out in its place?

Dude, nice, nice picture. When I grow up, I want a USP 45 Compact.

That really is a nice photograph. How do you like the recoil on the .45 USP there? The only one I've tried was a USPc and I found the gun twisting in my hand, a generally uncomfortable situation.

I've fired a fullsize in 9mm and that, logically, was quite a bit more controllable - I'm mainly wondering if the compact and the full size have vastly different handling characteristics or not.

          USP 45 Question

The USP 45 Compact does not have the same recoil buffer system as the full size model.

The "twisting" or torquing motion is caused by the fired bullet engaging the rifling combined with the high bore axis and light weight of the gun.

That torquing motion slowed down my follow up shot ability to the point where I decided that for me it was not a viable defensive tool and I sold it.

I have a Glock 36 that has more felt recoil than the 45 USPc but the recoil comes straight back, and for me this is a more comfortable and natural sensation.

I only have the 6" elite model for plinking...the USP 'woulda been a contenda' if it didn't have such muzzle rise. I'm really interested to see how the new ergo and thinner HK45 turns out.

It would be interesting to see how the elite would shoot in a plate match..it points nice.

              Hummm HK goodness.

These are my 2 favorite .45ACP pistols P220ST and HK USP 45

The 220ST is a very soft shooting pistol compared to the HK however the HK is quite a bit lighter. Both excellent pistols.

Felt recoil to me was less than a 1911 though it feels a bit slower than the 1911. Needles to say though, it is one fine pistol. I have over 100k rounds through mine and it is still shooting as good as the day I took it out of the box.

HK USP 45=The most reliable and most durable double stack 45 made.

(I'm just hoping the new HK45 full size will be available in California!)

I got my 9mm a few weeks ago and its amazing. I also use it for IPSC/USPSA and IDPA. Very reliable guns. Not that this has anything to do with the original post, I just really like it.

I forgot that the stupid little lock was even there! You don't even see it unles you look really close at the mag well. After a few thousand mag insertions the wear marks on the mag well make it really blend right in

Yes, the lanyard loop is still there. Never used mine though altough the thought has struck me once or twice when in the bush.
