    Another "9" in the pile

I ran across a nickle plated Browning Mk III in a local gun store. The nickle was far from pristine condition, but the internals looked great and the barrel was bright and shiny. I figured for the money it was hard to go wrong since they seem to be going for $900+ new everywhere I've looked lately. My wife got a M&P .40S&W compact in the same place. I figured I got the better deal.

Oh yeah, it's way over oiled. I do that to used or C&R guns when I first get them to loosen up the crud when I shoot them.

          It was $350.

Already shot it, ran 100%. Looks like it is a 1973 model according to the serial number. The rear sight was a little off, fixed it. I'm happy with it, been looking for another Hi-Power for a long time.

Great price and great pistol, I love Browning HP's. BTW it doesn't look like a Mark III to me, and can't be if it was made in 1973. It would be a Mark I.

It was made in 1973, so it is a Mark I, I stand corrected.
                    What is the difference?

Thanks for all the kudos. Okay so it is a Mark I for certain, no firing pin block in the slide, no ambi safety, made in 1973. Now I am even more stoked and feel like I really scored.

                              Sweet!
