Ignore all that garb about grinding on sights. Crazytalk, I tells ya!! I doubt sights are off. they are pretty much fixed, and you used to shoot it okay. I could see a drift possibly if it got knocked, but not elevation.
I found that first I was flinching (it comes and goes), AND that I was not keeping on target all the way throught the shot. Try to force yourself to ignore the shot (and where it goes) and keep the front sight on the target from beginning to trigger pull until when you release.
Do you "take up the slack" in SA? This is very helpful (at least for me).
And have a buddy watch you from nearby to see if the gun is dipping during the firing process. Just trying to help. I battled my 92(s) for a while, and now am very happy w/ THEM...

OK. Let's assume it is a gun problem. And also NOT an ammo problem (i.e., you're using the same ammo that shot true before the problem appeared). AND, you haven't damaged your sights, or they haven't been messed with by pixies and sprites...
I can think of several things that could have gone wrong. Your barrel could have gotten damaged or warped. The Baretta uses a tilting/locking barrel, and the parts that mate with the slide may be out of whack due to wear to the point that the muzzle points in the wrong direction (up, down, or to the side) when the round is fired. There is a lot of slop in the slide/barrel in Barettas compared to pistols with fixed-frame blowback barrels (like the PPK) or 1911s with tight "match" bushings. Maybe your Baretta just "wore out."
There could be internal damage to the rifling. Check this with a good light and/or borescope (you need to know what to look for). An often overlooked problem with firearms (hand and long guns) is the condition of the barrel chamber. This comes under the topic of cartridge headspacing. Out of spec chambers can lead to all sorts of accuracy (and worse) gun problems. There are several ways to troubleshoot chamber dimension problems, but unless you understand this issue, I'd advise seeking the advice of a competent smith.
Finally, if you really want to know whether your gun or your technique is the problem, you have to fire your pistol at the range under controlled conditions using a solid rest (like the Ransom).Comment

"I wouldn't spend a dime on a Beretta gun smith (BTW I don't know of one in the San Diego area) before I'd let another competent shooter run a mag or two thru your gun. Heck if you want, I'm willing to help. I've been shooting the 92 series of Beretta's since 1985. PM me".

Thread revival!
So I just sorta' shelved this gun for awhile, but took it to the range recently and had one of the guys there run a couple of mags through it, and on the second mag the slide stop sheared off.
Don't know if one has anything to do with the other, but I found it interesting.
He's ordering the part for me so we'll see what happens when it get replaced.Too many hobbies, Too little time.
