MKE hk sp89 clone in CA?

Is anyone making these available for us in CA? I'd think they would be possible to bring in as single shot w barrel extensions.

The reviews of these are really favourable. Prices have already dropped as low as $1299!

    Contact Riflegear in Costa Mesa.
They have knowledge of the ATI imported Turkish made HK SP89/HK94 clones.

Wow, and that is the beginning price. I wonder how low it will drop when it settles.

The beginning price was/is around $1450 for the 3 current MKE clones. Prices have been slowly settling as more retailers have been taking the guns on.
Riflegear may be a good start in State, but I do know Atlantic Firearms has them right now.

              They ship to CA.
              However, the important question is...

Will they modify it to be CA legal?

If not, it will have to be shipped to a middle-man FFL dealer, who will have to modify it to be CA legal.

We will be glad to ship the MKE pistol to a middleman for them to modify the gun and ship to your CA dealer.

The SP89 barrels aren't long enough to get the single shot exemption and we aren't set up to add barrel extensions at that price point. That's why we decline to handle these at this time. We can get it done but the cost will be above the standard conversion fee.

I suggest checking with Quentin Laser if they can get back to your email or phone call in a timely manner.

Remember a single shot conversion is an act of manufacturing and only an 07 FFL can legally perform them.

                          6".
12133(b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a single-shot pistol with a barrel length of not less than six inches and that has an overall length of at least 10 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.

right, but they are usually already in private hands, so they would be PPTed to you, which is a roster-exempt transfer.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

                            Possibilities :

                            1. new barrel of 6 inches or more..
                            2. somehow attach a fake can that can be easy to remove after it comes in ? (i like this idea)
                            3. tear the thing down completely to the reciever and bring it in then have it rebuilt ?

im trying to find out options for getting the MKE-SP-89's to pass the single shot exemption. the barrel being under 6 inches is the problem..

ive sent EM's to Quinten Laser and IGF to see what kind of ideas they can come up with so that we might have a few "standard options"

it would be nice if we could get one of these guys to do a "Cali Package" on the SP-89. then Atlantic can just send the SP-89 to them knowing the mods will be done correctly..

my idea was to purchase another front site house/triple frame and have an extension welded to it as there isnt enough meat left on the barrel after the front site to weld a fake can then you could simply remove the modded triple frame and replace with the one it came with once DROSED.

and since thredding it would make it fall under the assault weapon catagory thredding is not an option. and i wouldnt be correct looking anyways

i really want 1 or 2 of these.. once i get the different options that might work figured out ...ill hash it over with Atlantic and they or the middle man FFL that does the mods can take it from there....

im also going to take a crappy special weapons mag i have and attempt to make a make a single shot sled out of it

anybody else have some suggestions ?

                              my next question is:
would it be considered a barrel extension if is was welded/attached to the site house/triple frame instead of the barrel it self ?

does it have to be welded to the barrel to meet the longer than 6 inch exemption ?

if not then you could just remove the longer site house/triple frame and replace with the original..instead of haveing to completely rebarrel the pistol !
