I have that same model commander and like it.Mine has no issues firing hollow points, swc, ball of different weights.

I did get some trigger work done to lighten the pull thats about it as for the sights i dont mind them i can still hit my targets but a friend of mine brought up a good point with the org style sites is that you can still rack the slide with one hand if needed i couldnt do it as easy on my springfield that novaks on it.

I really, REALLY like meprolight night sights. Kimber owns meprolight. The dots are very large, and very bright. They make sights for just about any gun you can imagine without having to have your slide machined. Go to kimber's website and check them out.

Send it in to Colt for the 'Model O Package' and ask them to put whichever night sights you decide you like best on it. That package consists of a beavertail grip safety, de-horn, refinish, dovetailing the front sight and a novak rear sight. The night sights would cost extra. The 2009 price list says it runs $375 for the package.

I found these pics on the net of a Commander with the Model O package:

Night sights are overrated and counter productive sometimes. I would do a wide notch rear and be done.

Try the different configurations before you commit. I generally run a Heinie rear (no dots of any kind) with a tritium front sight from Novak.
