    XD Confusion

Ok so a compact is a 4 inch barrel with a shorter grip?
and the service is the 4 inch barrel with the full size grip.

For a compact does it only take the compact/subcompact magazines?
and than you can use the full size magazines with a grip extension or grip sleeve?

with the full size mags and grip extension it would be very similar to the Service model right?
    Thank you for your help

    Pretty much. Subcompact = 3", compact/service=4", and tactical=5"

The standard magazines are compatible with the compact and subcompact models. Springfield provides these models with a grip extension sleeve that slips over the standard magazines.
But even the compact magazines are double-stack and carry 10 rounds.

Subcompact is only available in 9mm and .40S&W.
Dunno why they don't offer it in .357sig... that should be a drop-in for the .40.
Maybe someone makes an aftermarket 3" barrel for the sig... or maybe the ballistics of the sig don't work well from a 3"?

BTW: They do make the .45 Compact with a 5" barrel. If you have smaller hands and don't need the longer grip of the Service model, that might be a decent carry gun.

I believe they are included with the compact and subcompact guns in the XD Kit.

I'm not positive about the California models, but the free-state XD .45 compact includes both 10rd and 13rd mags, with the cover on the 13.
The California kit probably just includes short and a long 10-rounders with an extension.

You can get the extensions from Springfield's XD store directly, and there used to be a bunch of them on eBay... probably Gunbroker too.

Unless you're a LEO, or these are consignment (PPT), the Ruger LCP is not on the roster.
The LCR .38spl revolver is rostered.
