FNP-9 ?

Hey Guys, I am considering a new lightweight house gun (I prefer hammer fired guns) I Know, I Know--OLD Skool.. Anyway I am considering the above and would appreciate any comments on triggers, weight, relability?

I have one, about a month old. It has been very reliable so far (about 300 rounds). The only thing i need to work on is the double action triger pull. It's pretty heavy. Once the hammer is back it's really smooth. Apart from that i like it. Comes with three mags, good deal.

I was looking at one. I would want a DA/SA model with thumb safety and cokced and locked capability. but we cant get that in Kalifornia, I guess that extra thumb safety is not safe.

Why can't you get those? FNP is on the roster.

the one on the roster has only a decocker. thats what I been told. no covked and locked for Kali.

I love mine. The only thing I wish it did differently was to throw the brass more straight out the side, sometimes and with some ammo it must rattle around in the ejection port a little bit because I’ll sometimes have brass drop on top of my cap at the range. As for the pistol itself, it fits my hand well (I have smallish hands, I wear a size medium glove and some double stack semi-autos are bulky), it points naturally with the standard rounded backstrap, and it’s more accurate than I am. I don’t find the DA pull to be excessively heavy, it’s longer of course but it’s not a bad trigger as-is.

Just so you’ll be aware if you’re considering the FNP, they are updating the 9mm and .40 models for a relaunch probably late spring or early summer of next year. The new versions will more closely resemble the FNP-45, and it’s possible that the new manual safety version could be included on the roster if the current FNP-9 with manual safety isn’t included.

I own an FNP-40 and it's great. My only complaint is the long SA trigger pull and, I'm told, that can't be changed.

I have about 1000 rounds through it since I got it in July and not one FTL, FTF or FTE.

Great guns. Before I shot one I would never have even THOUGHT about buying one. The trigger pull (both DA and SA) is atrocious and the decocker was just plain scary, letting the hammer fall really fast and loudly.

But, the guns work. And they work GREAT! Very reliable, and extremely effective recoil management.

Now I would actually buy one.
