    Anyone else do ar pistols?

Are there any places that will build an AR pistol in norcal? I order my pistol upper but rather drive it to the shop and drop it off instead of shipping it. Any places from sac to the bay that will build the lower and register it as a pistol?

Contact PRK Arms in Fresno for your NorCal AR pistol needs.

They are few and far between. Assembling a receiver into a pistol (or rifle for that matter) falls under the BATF's definition of "manufacturing" so the dealer must be an 07 FFL (licensed manufacturer) rather than a simple 01 FFL (dealer only) to do it in the course of regular business. They must also mark the receiver with their information and pay the 11% Federal Excise Tax on the firearm.

I'm not sure if it's the way you worded this or what, but just wanted to point something out: If you are in possession of an AR pistol upper (anything with barrel length < 16") but you do NOT have an AR pistol lower you are opening yourself up to "constructive possession" laws for an SBR. If you have ANY regular AR's in your possession w/ a short barrel uppper (and NO pistol lower) that is a really bad (federal offense) combo.... but if this is your first step into AR's and you do NOT have ANY other AR's you're okay.

No need to respond one way or the other, let's just assume that if you currently are in possession of an AR pistol upper, then you don't have any other non-pistol AR lowers laying around.

If you can, get an out of state seller to convert and ship it to Cali, Irvington Arms will accept the single shot AR. Sadly, the list is dwindling, Anvil Arms did mine and apparently bankrupt. Freakshow can do it as middleman.

Yes, that is legal. As long as there is a way to make a legal configuration (which your existing AR pistol lower does) then you're good to go...
