    S&W model 642 cylinder problem

I purchased the revolver about two months ago....have fired about 350 rounds....I am finding out that at times I cannot open the cylinder....have played around with the ejector rod by turning it back and forth until it is loose.... it is becoming a recurring problem....is there an easy fix...what is causing the ejector rod to affect the cylinder to make it stuck.....any help is welcomed...I have a S&W 686 4inch and have fired over 1500 rounds and have never have the same problem (unable to open cylinder)

By unscrewing itself the ejector rod is becoming longer and is engaging the ejector rod plunger located on the underside of the barrel. Loctite takes care of the problem - blue should be fine.

I had that happen to my Taurus 669 about 15 years ago. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what was going on. I finally figured it out. My ejector rod was backing out. I screwed it back in and everything was fine. But for about a month it was driving me crazy.

If the self-fix doesn't work, give S&W a call. They have great customer service and they will mail you a shipping label so that you can ship the gun back to them for warranty repair.
