seecamp price?

hey Guys:

I'm looking to buy a seecamp 32, what's the going rate these days in the Bay Area? And does any shop have them in stock? I called a few today and they all seem to can only order one.

See if you can find one of the older models on consignment, without the "California" safety stop on current CA models to make it pass the SB15 test. If really stuck on getting a Seecamp, it would be worth it.

Also, check out the guns from North American Arms - less expensive and you can put jsut about any .32ACP through them (and they make one in .380). However, with the Seecamp, they recommend only using Winchester Silver Tips, and believe it or not, I have heard of plenty of people complain about problems when they tried using other make .32ACP - they had hang-ups, feed, and ejection troubles with their Seecamps.

I have only ever run the WInchester through my Seecamps and have never had trouble. But it would be nice to not worry about the ammo which seems to be the report on the NAA guns. They run great and our nearly 1/2 the cost of a Seecamp.

I understand - as well as the older Seecamps are not on the list either. I was expressing you may want to look closely at the CA-version Seecamps before buying due to the safety latch (I really don't like it) and pursue the NAA or older version Seecamps through a PPT or consignment deal.

If you are looking at weight as an issue, there is always the very slim and reliable Kel-Tecs in .32ACP and .380, though again, not on the CA list. Those are worth pursuing in my opinion, if you really want something that doesn't even feel like it's there and works with just about any brand ammo.

And while we are on the topic, I took a photo of 2 Seecamps that I own especially for your thread here: both are like new in the box (the one with the strip-tie has never been fired), but if you look closely at the pics you will notice something very special and intriguing about one of them - something that I nor anyone else has ever seen on any other Seecamp, and I know was created by Larry Seecamp himself.

Look closely at the one on top in the pics compared to the one on bottom; it is polished, has a trigger stop, has "factory" rollmarks of "Restricted Edition" and an "L" on the left rear portion of the slide. And while not shown, it also has a VERY low serial number - I am 100% sure this personally graced Larry Seecamp's hands more than once in its making.

That's a good link - yes, I knew that was the reason - just figured it was not worth going into greater detail here. But it is nice to have that direct from Larry in a more contemporary reference than just my knowledge of the details alone - thanks for the link!!

thanks Cali-gula for the pics. Believe me I would be open to a non-CA Seecamp if I can find one, but I have a feeling that would add a bit of cost over the already somewhat pricy pistol. I have almost never seen a Seecamp in stores in my area, people just seem to get them and never sell them!!!

yeah, a 380 would definitely do it foe me. 460+shipping+dealer fee+dros would push me over to a Glock 36.

Last time Turner's had one in stock they were running 500 dollars for the Cali version. Probably going to run up in price slightly when they come in again. I saw both the Keltec P-32 and 380 models at the Ontario show today with a nice little sign above them that read " L.E. Only" together with about 2 dozen 30 round AR mags with Magpul followers. Too bad.

I have serial Number 8x for my seecamp. Mid 80's.

Here in Texas they go for 365 to 395 for the 32acp model and 895 for the 380 model.

Yeah, the older mags also had the SN on them.
