Need Scoop On Colt Double Eagles

I have owned 1 for several years. I'll tell you what I know.
Double action .45ACP with the dimensions and feel of a 1911. Also offered in 10mm, .40, and 9mm.
Production from 1989 to 1997, depending on who you believe.
Stainless Steel is only finish I ever see.
3 dot sights were standard.
Available as a 5" barrel, Commander, or officer's model.
Decocker, but no grip safety.
Grips are black plastic and not easily changed. The grips hold some of the springs.
Trigger mechanism is unique and parts are very scarce.
The model was never really popular.
Original list price was in the $600 to $700 range, but the actual sale price could be in the low $400's during production years.
The Mark 2 had some improvements and is more desirable.
Current value is supposedly in the $700 to $1,000.00 range. Again, depends on who you believe.
I bought mine used several years ago. My only improvement is the addition of Trijicon Night Sights. I like the gun and would not part with it. The other Double Eagle owners I know feel the same way.
This is just my understanding of the model. I do not 'Guarantee' any of this as undisputed fact.

I missed my chance to get one but check the for sale section and have only seen one in 10mm. This was my dream gun when I was a kid. I hear the double action is horrid and the single action not much better but it is a sexy looking pistol for sure.Comment
