    which one would you choose?

hi there, which gun would you choose,

a 6 year old kimber pro carry stainless steel. or

a 6 months old springfield xd 45 with 4" bbl?

both cost the same price at $500 .

Tough choice! I love the XD series, but the non-compact 4" 45's proportions are all wrong (grip too long). So I guess I'd get the Kimber.

If it was a fullsize Kimber that would be what I'd choose. I just can't trust a short barrel 1911. So my vote would go to the XD45.

If the Kimber has the internal extractor, then I'd get the Kimber over the XD. An old Series I Kimber is not available new anymore, and the XDs are still on the drop list, so you can get one at a later date.

My vote goes to 6 yr old kimber... but may want to check frame material. See if it goes by Pro Carry only or Pro Carry HD. Regular Pro Carry has alloy frame while HD model uses stainless steel frame. If the frame is stainless that would be a big plus for me. I used to have a Pro Carry Stainless until some punk broke into my car and stole it along with a SIG P228 that's in my shooting bag. SIG pop up few months after it's being stolen, but the Kimber is still out there with 7 years passed already....

                Kimber.

I like the XD, but I'm more an 1911 guy.

Depending on the wear on the Kimber I'd get both. I have a Kimber Stainles II (internal extractor) and while it's a great shooter there is a bit of galling occuring on the slide lock notch. (normal for stainless so I have read) Doesn't affect operation of the gun and I have no intention of selling it. It's dead accurate and goes bang everytime I pull the trigger.

I also have the XD45ACP Service model. Excellent pistol and I like the loaded and cocked striker indicators on the gun. Also it has a grip safety much like a 1911 and along with the trigger safety is also very accurate and goes bang evertime I pull the trigger.

Get em both while you can...
