    Ruger SR9 mags

Just checking and couldn't find by searching-
Do the new SR9 Rugers use the same mags as the old P95's??? I sure hope so, but haven't been able to confirm yet. Anyone tried it yet? Thanks- Also, if you have a SR9, how do you like it so far?

    Google + P95 Mag in SR9? + 5 seconds = http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_the_r..._same_magazine

Don't have an SR9 but here's a series of really detailed vids on it by Nutnfancy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEUE5k0RJCo

I personally opted for an FNP-40 after watching his vids on the SR9 and FNP-9 — The SR9 seems to have some annoying quirks that I couldn't live with.

Thanks aeromotor- Really not as interested now that I know it doesn't share mags. Think how many ruger mags are already out there for the P-series that this thing could have used- what a waste. And the ruger carbine also. To you SR9 owners- I'm not hating on it, just saying it seems too bad.

Hah yea I hear ya... it seems like every new gun has new mags making it harder to use anything old you might have.

Ruger factory P-89 / P95 mags are 15 rounders. SR9 factory mags are 17 rounders. I have both and own high cap mags for both that I purchased when I was a LEO. If you compare the two mags side by side their general shape at the top will explain why they had to use a different mag.

I did a little experimenting with some extra mags I had to see if I could get P89 mags to fit the SR9. At first I thought it was only the base plate angle and a mag latch hole issue... I was wrong.

You can physically insert a P89 mag into a SR9 but the feed angle is wrong due to the reduced bore height of the SR9. The P89 mag will lock the slide open on the SR9 because it over-inserts. If you compare the profile of the SR9 to the P89 the bore height difference will become very aparent.

I really like my SR9 and I think of it as everything that I hoped the Glock would be.

Unfortunately not, I have a SR9 (love it) and a P94 and a PC9 they are different. I enjoy shooting these guns and I WISH the mags were all the same. Redhemi
