MecGar makes great mags and is the OEM mag mfgr for many name-brand makes of guns.

Note that this is from Cheaper Than Dirt and they say it's restricted and they won't ship this to CA, so you probably should find another vendor. (This mag is entirely legal to ship to CA.)

Great mags, especially these with the plastic floorplates. Goto Wholesale Hunter or Discount Gunner, they've got them in stock for about $18.

I haven't used Mec Gars in a 1911 but I haved used them in other handguns, specifically the Hi Power and a CZ 75. They work flawlessly. Try arizonagunrunners.net if you're ordering online.

MecGar makes great magazines. As Bill said, they are OEM providers for a lot of companies.

I have some of the MecGar 1911 mags in blue, and I like them better than most of my other 1911 mags. No problems with them so far.

One of the things I like about their 1911 mags is the steel follower. I know I'm going to do a lousy job of describing it, but instead of the lower part of it being split and that little tab catching the slide stop at the last shot, there's a full step that's nice & solid and in my experience always works well & cause the slide to stay open.

I just talked with Nancy ext 281 of Cheaper than Dirt and she says CTD WILL ship to California. I hope they change the website. So when you call look for Nancy.

To get back on topic, I do have one for my 1911 and have no complaint.

Funny. I've had more problems with my Wilson mags than my MecGar mags in my S&W 1911.

I used MG mags in my CZ and they have been great. For 1911's I like the Wilson's but thats just me.
