    Barrel pointing low? Picture.

On my CZ P-01, just noticed today that there's a small gap at the 12 o'clock of my barrel. Is that normal? Here's a picture of it, colored the gap red in the 2nd picture.

On some handguns that is normal. Some designs have a barrel that unlocks an tilts for feeding. When the round is chambered the barrel locks in place for firing. Next time your at a gun store you can look at some other guns and see the same gap.

yes that is normal. all guns with a tilting barrel lockup do it to some degree.

your barrel is locking up with pressure on the bottom of the barrel and further back on the top of the barrel

next time i hope you keep pointless comments to yourself, unless your going to add a answer with it. Yes that normal for alot of pistols to do that, my glock and colt 1911 do the same thing when there is not a round chambered. A good gun owner would take the time to over look his entire pistol and notice something like this.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I suspected it was normal since it was shooting straight, but just wanted to be sure.

I understand the danger, but I took every precaution to make sure it was safe.

I'm sure it's all in jest.

Joke or no joke (But I did see the smiley face and of course I saw it coming as soon as I read the OP)... there was no reason to escalate.

Take it easy... it is better for you.

all my cz's including most of my pistols have gaps like yours...
                      except for my 1911.

surely you're not suggesting that your 1911's barrel is parallel with the top of the slide

actually it wasn't that long ago that i believed that very thing.

i was seeing all these "custom" 1911a with the barrel flush with the front of the bushing...very cool indeed

it wasn't until i was talking to a 1911 smith about a custom build that i found out that he would do it if i really wanted him to, but that he didn't recommend it as it would adversely affect accuracy....as the barrels muzzle would now be angled from the bore line

If your Colt 1911 does this you need a new bushing. But it is indeed normal (and necessary) for most semiautomatic pistols.

The 1911 design is a bit different. There is a little play in "mil-spec" 1911s, but not to the extent you would find in a Glock, XD, CZ, etc etc. In the higher end 1911s you'll find there is little to no play in the end of the barrel's fit to the bushing and the bushing's fit to the slide. This is often accomplished via a taper on the barrel.
