    Browning Pro-9 / FNP-9

I recently held a Browning PRO-9 and liked the feel. But have not had an opportunity to shoot it. I guess the "military style FNP-9 is maketed in civilian guise as the Browning Pro-9."

Has anyone shot it or own it and can you tell me about the pros and cons of this gun? I'm thinking about buying one.

    and link.

    Thanks!

I had a chance to hold one (not shot) and it end up that my son bought it. It still in DROS and should be release on Dec 10. BTW he is in the same NorCal as you, in Monterey county.
The gun feels pretty good in my hands, may be even better then SP2022 I have. Looks like very well designed and built. From what I read on the web, it should be very dependable with no problems.
I can say anything more, I will not visit my son for at list 2 month, then may be I can give some feedback from range visit.

Yea, I heard that too. But you never know about a gun until you try it, or get some personal opinions.

I cannot speak specifically about shooting the FNP-9, but I did take a very strong look at that gun in the shop. It is a very nice piece and one that is on my 2010 list pending what the FNX will bring.
I ended up getting the FNP-45 and have been very impressed with FN. If the FNP-9 is anything like my FNP-45, you'll Happy with your purchase.

As far as I know the FNP9 and the PRO9 are the same in every way.. I have an FNP9 and I like the pistol very much.. Great feel and minimal recoil. I have a couple of friends that have other pistols, Glock, H&K and so on and when they shot my FNP they both went WOW!! My buddy with the H&K said if he had known? and at half the price.... I don't what the price is up your way but here in the IE at the Bass Pro Shop the black on black FNP9 is $499.00 and the two tones are $519.99. Not a bad price for such a great felling and shooting pistol.. If it fits the bill for the feel you want is a handgun then you will be very happy with your choice!

IE = Inland Empire, San bernardino, Riverside, Ontario ...etc. I have a fnp-9mm i like it a lot. The only thing i am still getting used to is the Double action triger pull. With more practice im sure i will overcome it. I was used to my glock 23 triger pull. All in all happy with the purchase.

I thought regular ol' folks couldn't get an fnp-9mm?
Oh, IE. Who came up with this term? I've been to all those places and I don't remember any of those places being empire-like...
Anyway, nice to know on the double action.
I tried looking for one of these for rent, but no such luck!

fnp-9 and 40 are in the roster. fnp- 45 are not.
i don't know about fnp-9 but i sold my fnp-40 because my hands could not get a good grip on it.

Nice, Oldnoob. Thanks for the good post.
I'm not sure that I want to wait that long. Plus the FNX isn't on the safety list, is it?

Nah, it's not even officially release yet. I think it's like the 4th gen Glock, it will release on next year's SHOT show.

Did you make up your mind which one you going to get? FNP or Browning?

Well, I wrote the post bc I don't know for sure yet. I'm seriously considering the Browning Pro-9 which is the exact same gun as the FNP-9. But I have a hard time committing to buying something I haven't tested/tried. Kinda like buying a dress without trying on. Possible might look HOT, but would hate for it to NOT. And returning handguns is really not an option, unlike dresses...

Yeh, I would have a hard time choosing them as well. I had shot most of polymer service pistols out there but FN9/Pro9 isn't one of them. I thought about buying it a few times but either the deal wasn't there or got cold feet.
