would someone be so kind as to post a picture of the area where they stamp 586 into the smith and wesson model 586. i know that its right where the cylinder flips out, but what im wondering is on 586-models, does it say something like 586-3 right on one line, or will it be 586, then a 3 below it or -3 below it? i cant seem to find any pics of that stamp anywhere on google search. thanks folks! -Nick.

I do not have a 586, but I have a number of Smiths and all of them that I can think of list the model numbers as xxx-x on the same line. So yeah, it would read 586-3. If it said 586(no dash) and there were other numbers below it, it's that it was a first run 586 and the numbers below it were just internal production codes, but that's just a guess. -
