    XD45 Feeding issues

Took my XD45 out to the range, today. I had a lot of 200gr Rainier Plated Bullets loaded for the Kimber I used to shoot. Kimber ate them up. XD45 would not take them at all. On the good side, when I was able to fire it, the XD45 shot exceptionally well. Trigger will take some getting used to, though. All in all, I don't regret buying it. Gonna' get me some round nose bullets, next time I go to the store. I really like Rainier bullets. They are accurate as heck.

That leaves me with a little over 4000 Rainier Plated Bullets, sitting on the shelf in never opened boxes of 1000 that I need to get rid of.

Forgot to mention...They are Semi-Wadcutters. Yes, I changed mags. No, I didn't change ammo. Semi-Wadcutters was all I had and wanted to test them.

You could try changing the overall length of you reloads. What's your over all length? I usually load my 200swc's at about 1.250" to 1.255" and they run fine in my kimber and my ruger p97. The same round will have feeding problems in a cz clone I have. You might have to go with a 200 grain round nose if you like that bullet weight. Mark

Yeah, I'm going with RN from now on. My C.O.L. is same as yours and they fed fine in my Kimber, too.

              XD doesn't like SWC.

I had to find out and I did. That's the first step in developing a load...Seeing if it will function. If it will, go on to the next step. If it doesn't, back up and punt. JMHO

Semi wad cutters are a known issue with XD45. Not sure exactly why since they feed every hollow point I've ever heard of. I've never tried feeding a SWC in mine, but there are several threads on the matter over at XDTalk. SWC in an XD is generally considered a no go.

Before you sell off your bullets, try some different OAL. Perhaps a couple of thousands on a inch longer or shorter will solve the issue. If it's feeding RN try loading your SWC closer to that OAL. Just a few rounds at a time, not a run of 100+.

OK...But I've got them down to the shoulder. Any lower and it'll be the shoulder below the case mouth with the brass edge sticking out past the bulllet shoulder.
