    SIGPRO 2340 conversion to 9mm

I'm interested in having the option to convert my .40 SIGPRO 2340 into 9mm. The conversion barrels exist...just checking to see if anyone has done it already and any feedback on performance/satisfaction.

    Thanks!

Before you do that, check with Dr. Lunde. He's a member here. Oh, he's the resident expert on the sigpro and has a great web page on the matter. Better yet, see below.

Thanks, Gumby & Dr. Lunde. Actually it was the original info from Dr. Lunde's site that got me interested in coverting over. I love my SP2340, but it's just a little too snappy for when I shoot IDPA/USPSA compared to my Glock 17. I'm very curious/interested to connect with someone who has actually installed the 9mm conversion from EFK and find out how it performs.

I ended up selling my Bar-Sto conversion barrel, not because anything was wrong with it, but because I ended up acquiring an SP 2009, along with an SP 2022 in 9mm. While I had the barrel, it was flawless. It made a great pistol even greater.

Just be mindful that using a conversion barrel will probably knock you out of production class in USPSA.

Thanks, Dr. Lunde for the actual testimony of shooting a conversion barrel. Looks like BARSTO no longer produces this barrel (or will take several weeks to mfg), but there are several EFK's out in the market for about $150 +/-. No problem with rounds feeding with the original.40 mag? Or ejections?

Ipsick...you are correct about the USPSA change in classification rule; the conversion barrel will bump me out of production into limited. And of course shooting limited in 9mm has it's disadvantages...etc. etc. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks again, gents for the feedback/information.

I have both the 9mm and the 357sig conversion barrels from EFK. In my experience, I was only able to reliably feed around 5-6 rds before the 9mm became jammed in the 40 mag. I only shot less then 50rds with my 2340 with 9mm barrel. The rounds jamming in the magazine were too irritating for me to use it. They all ejected fine, and I am sure if I used a regular 9mm magazine, everything would work fine.

That brings up a good point. The SP 2009 and SP 2340 share the same frame, so if there are issues related to using 9mm in an SP 2340 magzazine, the solution is to simply use an SP 2009 magazine.

BTW, the newer SP 2022 uses the same magazines as the SP 2340 and SP 2009, meaning that there is one for 9mm, and another for .40 Auto and .357 Sig.
