G27 Baseplate removal

Bought a new Glock 27 and wanted to add the mag extension....however, I cant get the baseplate off the stock mag. I havent bought a new Glock since 1998 so I haven't messed with the newer style mags- however, I just can't disengage the base plate by pressing in the sides. No matter how hard I press, I the sides don't go in to free up the plate to slide out.

I got fed up enough that I tried using some large channel-locks, and I still couldn't get the plate off (I did manage to smash my finger though).

Anyone have any experience with the newer small glock mags?

Help me out here, I'm about to get out the dremel to get that thing off.

(and yes, I did press in the little button, but that wasnt what was holding on the baseplate)

i just press really hard against the edge of the table to get it past the notches.

I just get a small flathead screwdriver and slowly pry it open and work my way around the baseplate.

I had several people try to get the plate off, none of us managed to get it to work. I ended up solving the problem by using a c-clamp to squeeze in the sides.

However, first I tried to use channel lock pliers and only managed to smash the crap out of one of my fingers and damage one of the mags slightly.

I definitely can't depend on removing the base of the mags in the field anytime soon. I'd have to say it's one of the most firmly attached baseplates I've ever seen.

I'm still shocked at how many people can't get it off. OK here is a video that shows how to get it off in seconds. You don't need to bend or clamp anything.
