    Grendel P-10

Does anybody have any hands experience with them and what are your thoughts?

Look to get the P-12 instead if you can. Bear in mind that the biggest draw-back to the P10 is the non-removable internal magazine. The P-12 is magazine fed.

I don't think either was made with the intention they would be a used for cycling a lot of rounds at the range or serve as anyone's primary defense handgun. Neither are a "shooting" gun and simply won't take the continued abuse - they were made with the mind that they would be taken to the range for a few boxes of ammo for familiarizing, practice with moderate amounts of dry-firing, and then mainly used for carry. They were to be there and work when needed, but even then I am not sure if I would trust it to work 100% - they had their reliability flaws. They are inexpensive and did not have the best rack record for staying together, and were tempermental to types of ammo on feed and ejection.

For the cost, and since you would be looking at a consignment gun anyway, you would be better off taking the price you might pay for the Grendel and put it toward a similar sized North American Arms Guardian, Kahr MK40, Colt Mustang Pocketlite or Pocket 9, older PPK, or small Kel-Tec.

I own a P-10 and a Keltec P-11. The P-11 is much more versatile primarily because it has a removable magazine. Loading the P-10 is a pain because the slide can release on you while you're jamming in the rounds. When I shot the gun for 4th of July, it was reliable and had no jams with PMC FMJ ammo. When I lived in San Francisco, the P-10 made sense because it was small and compact, and if I ever got into a situation where I had to use it, the scenario would very likely end up with me dumping the entire 10 rounds, then running like hell to get out of the place. Then I found out it's not so easy to shoot while riding a motorcycle. Disassembly is a pain because you had to line up a hole in the slide with a pin in the frame, then hammer out the pin with a punch while holding the slide in place with the hole lined up, otherwise the pin would hit the inside of the slide on the side opposite of where you are hammering.
I would recommend getting a P-11 if you can find one.
