    Run, don't walk...

Get a used Mak or a Beretta Jetfire or Minx etc. or a Bersa 380.

I believe Jennings/Bryco are same manufacturer, different owner. Could be mistaken though.

The handful I've handled were broken or breaking, they're cheap and unreliable (thus they are indeed the top choice for criminals). If you just want something to toy with at the range have at, but they're not worth the material they're made out of imo.

As someone else mentioned, you can typically find a Bersa in the $2-300 range, and those on the other hand are actually very reliable and well made for that price. ASC has a rental Bersa that has never had any real issues, seen tons of rounds, and doesn't get cleaned as often as it should.

Yes, they were cast in the same die cast shop. All made of zinc. You don't want to know how many times I reworked the tooling for those POS! But hey, they did pass the drop tests.

I had a bryco/jennigs nine, worthless, it took alot of work to make it reliable, and even then it was a poor quality gun. get ANYTHING but one ofthose.

                    +1 for the Bersa 380. It's a GOOD knock-off of a Walther.

A guy I work with collects ring of fire stuff and derringers. It's all good in that regard. the whole lot of it probably cost him $200 and the jennings shot 22's ok.

I think most of his were from the old days in Wisconsin and I think one somebody probably gave him all rusted up...anyhow, not a one of them are worth a $25 dros.

Do yourself a favor and get a surplus pistol instead

There are plenty of inexpensive surplus pistols on the market (PA-63, CZ-52, ...) get yourself one of these. At least they won't fail you if you ever have to use them tor self-defence. And your chance of getting injured because POS gun self-destructed are three orders of magnitude lower with cheap surplus handguns. Think about it, is $100 worth risking serius injury or death? Not to me...
