What if there is a compensator attached...with a set screw.

I think it is legal as long as the compensator is permanently attached.

it has to be more than a set screw i believe. usually they are welded or pinned on.

Buy a new barrel. I remember somebody was selling a mark 23 in the for sale section but to shoot the thing you needed to buy a new barrel.
The OE barrel came with the gun but it's a felony to use it.

                      Yes.

                      1. Non semi-auto pistol
                      2. Fixed magazine semi-auto pistol
                      3. Brake or compensator is permanently attached

Would a set screw with Red Loctite be considered legal? It would take some heat and effort to remove the compensator. Although, I would consider this semi-permanent (if there is such a term).

Silver solder or blind pinning would be considered permanent. I doubt that most DAs would consider locktite permanent though.

                            CSA has it correct.

Threaded barrels are legal on all hanguns in CA, except for detachable-magazine semi-automatic pistols that are not registered as Assault Weapons.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

AFAIK, CADOJ considers red loctite to be permanent enough to hold the smooth barrel nut on the CA-legal Walther P22 handguns. YMMV on using red loctite to attach any other muzzle device.
