    Kimber 1911 Question

How many rounds will a full size steel framed Kimber 1911 .45 last for? How many rounds will it last until it needs to TLC in the form of new springs new barrels or other parts etc?

For a general reference based on his experience, take a look at this article from Hilton Yam.

+1 for that reference site. Generally speaking however, that handgun will last longer than you will likely be able to afford to continue feeding it with today's ammunition prices. Generally speaking.

Just like automobile engine, without oil, 5 miles dead, with oil 200k miles.

Properly maintained, inspected and lubed, I've seen 1911's go over 50K rounds. Even indifferently maintained they will go over 10K rounds.
