    Smith & Wesson 66

Came across a Smith and Wesson 66 in stainless with a 6"barrel. It was priced at 629.00 and included a lined gun pouch, a Bianci Holster, Two speed loaders with holster and Orignel box. Gun did not have a scratch on it and the wood grips where perfect.

    Is that a fair deal?

It's a good CA price in my opinion, considering the conditions of the gun and grips that you are mentioning.

I got mine for a little less than $500, 3 years ago maybe. not that that means anything, but I still have a $500 limit for a 357 magnum that isn't a real rare variation.

The speed loaders and pouch might be worth about $20- the bianchi holster- nada unless it is the accuweave carbon fiber/hard molded nylon type.

That's a bit steep, or at the very top of the range for a 66, even in this dung-hole California. Like the previous poster noted, the accessories are worth maybe $20-30.

A little high, even for CA. If it's possible, make an offer for $550-$570 and see if he sells.

Get it. Good guns. Not a bad price for CA. Try offering $600. If he says no, it is up to you. I'd buy it.

I had someone here offer to buy my Model 66 2 1/2" barrel that I bought in 1978 for $600 and I wasn' even selling it. I had just mentioned in a thread in the for sale forum that I had one just like the OP who was selling his and I really liked it.

Next thing I know, I got an offer to buy mine.

I know they stopped making my particular one, so that may have something to do with it. Is the 6" still being made and is it considered unique.

                Too high

I think $629 is way too high for a S&W 66 with 6 inch barrel. I own three of these guns, all snubbies, and purchased the most recent one a few months ago for $500. Generally the snubbies sell for more than the 4 and 6 inch barrel lengths. I wouldn't pay more than $450 for a 6 inch model 66 in CA or elsewhere in the country.

It also depends on the -dash revision of the gun; if it's a later (-6) revision with the internal lock then the price is too high.

If it was a -no dash, and was unfired, AND had the factory box and tools, I might throw $600 at it (if I didn't have one already).

Plus one with this. For some reason the 6 inch just isn't all that desireable. HTH c good
