    Sig p228r question

Just field stripped my new p228r that I picked up today and noticed two sections on the inside of the slide that looks like it wasn't coated. With this being my first sig, I want to know if this is normal. Thanks for the help.

I've only owned one SIG, and it was evenly coated along the inside of the slide. I can't say whether your situation is "normal" as I don't know how things are being produced there there days, but I will say that I've never seen a SIG that had un-Nitroned sections before. I'd make inquiries with SIG Sauer.

I have a non-railed West German P228, and the inside of my slides are coated. If that helps.

Not to keep you in the dumper but my two Sigs of older vintage are coated all the way. I don't think that this will affect it at all but I know how you feel about a new gun... this shi should not be like this. Let Sig know, I am sure they will take care of you, and Sorry

All my Sigs are from before the rail varients and don't have any bare looking areas like that.

None of my P228 (non rail version) has this type of uneven coating. By the way, since P228 uses stamp steel slide, I am not sure if the finish is Nitron since that finish typically is for their stainless slide (P229 and P226).

TwitchALot has a P228 and might be able to weigh in so we can get a coated/non-coated tally going. I PM'd him.

Funny, I saw a possible answer on Sigforum (which is even more of a pain to search on) a while back and went to go find that answer.

Found a thread created by the OP, and the members there put the same answer I was looking to find verify. So now he knows.

Oh, and its "apparentlya way they held on to the slide to put on the finish".....

The comments I get on sigforum is the spots are created by what ever device they use to hold the slides while it is getting finished. For a company that charges so much for it's guns, you think they would think of a better method.

At least it's not supposed to effect durability much...

Thanks for all the input guys.
