G17 accessories

I took the plunge and bought a G17 today....what accessories would people reccomend that have them? Hogue grip strap seems nice....a laser but which one? etc.

Crimson Trace.

It's grip mounted, activated by pressure from your middle finger, and doesn't really impact the ability to holster it.

Slap a "flashlight" laser on the bottom of the barrel and you're going to severely limit your hostering options and pretty much eliminate options for CCW outside of a shoulder rig.

Don't worry about accessories until you've familiarized yourself with the function of the pistol. Ammo would be your first accessory...wait a bit of time then look around. There are TONS of little add-ons that you can slap on most Glocks for better or for worse.

Extra mags and new sights would be my priorities.

On mine I have added quit a bit but thats after putting about a 1000 rounds through it stock. I added a tungsten guide rod, Lone Wolf extended comp barrel and trigger stop, extended slide stop, Hiviz sights and smoothed out the internals to a 2.9 lb trigger pull. Now its a very smooth 2.9 trigger pull that is fun to shoot. Im a 1911 guy so details on a non 1911 are even more critical and harsh to me but this one makes the check off list.

Night sights, extra mags, good quality holster(Safariland, Galco,Bladetech. not airsoft crap) mag pouch, extended slide stop (I like the aero tek), ammo and trigger time.

Put 1K through before messing with anything inside the gun. The trigger will smooth out and then you'll see what your working with.

Yeah, get some 9mm if you can find it for a good deal and shoot it out of the G17 and enjoy I would get to know it inside and out before you go attempting to add things to it, is it a HD or Target / Plinker? If HD then add night sights, and a TLR 1 or 2 depending on what you really want. Other then that leave it stock, a happy Glock is a stock Glock. Most of those mods out there deminish your chances of survival and are meant to be used for competition or target shooting where your life does not really depend on it breaking down. I like the idea of a Trijicon Night Sight setup...how hard is that to install...could it effect accuracy? after all, it is the sight I'de be messing with.

I know Ill get the extended slide release and the extended mag release and a few more mags...I just ordered 1000 rounds of 9mm. It's going to be an HD gun that I plan to use often at the range. I will get a laser on it at some point, havent looked into what type at all, but I want to get good with the irons first. So...night sights worth easy to install and not effect the accuracy of the irons?

Night sights replace the factory irons, so they will have to be re-zeroed after installation.

While you could probably do it yourself with some basic tools, it really is something best left to a gunsmith.
