I was wondering if anyone out there had any comments on the Light/Laser combos that Insight Technolgy produces. Do they have any competitors? What's the value of the LED versions with different colors or infrared?

The only thing that I wasn't too crazy about was having the laser below the light. Seems like it would be a little far from the POI.

These products are meant for close quarter battle. If you can't shoot at the target at such close range without laser pointer or don't know how to compensate for the difference between POA and POI at close range, you've got a serious problem. Your money should be spent on firearms training rather than buying expensive gadget.

can you please quote the law? I've seen people state that those IR lasers are prohibited for civilians, but also people saying otherwise.

Some companies sell those IR lasers as LEO-only, but that doesn't mean they're forbidden (kind of like Ruger high cap magazines...)

The FDA regulation seems to depend on how powerful the laser is. There might be other laws on this though...

My reliable source says that's not true. Other than liability issues, there is nothing illegal about selling even class IV lasers to anyone.

While I feel having a light on a pistol is a great idea, I think a laser is pretty useless. Fortunately the M-3 series is laser free and costs less to boot. The other alternative is the surefire x200 which has an aluminum body instead of polymer.
