Question about bringing magazines into CA

    Hello everyone,

I tried to order some 20 round p226 magazines from a web site and they won't ship to california, even if I am law enforcement. So I was wondering, my dad lives in Idaho and they do ship there. Can I have him just bring the disassembled magazines with him when he flies down for thanksgiving?

I'm pretty sure it's ok to ship or transport disassembled hi cap magazines across state lines, but I just wanted to be sure or find out if flying is a whole different ball game . Any help is appreciated thank you.

Ask your desk sergeant/superior officer to prepare you a letter to obtain the magazines.

It's not a matter of a letter from from my department, they won't ship the magazines to CA period.

It sounds like it's legal for someone to fly the dissassembled mag kits, and if you are an LEO, it completely legal for you to purchase, import, own, and use those. I probably wouldn't try to bring them in carry on baggage though.

I think I will play it safe and just have him ship them to me.
