This works, and I like it (the key version). I know two people who have them and they work great for what they are. They are not a home-security safe or anything, but great for quick temporary storage, vehicle storage, hiding, etc. Not sure if the dimensions are right for you.

Yes. I am highly paranoid about the school zone laws. There is a school that is borderline within 1000 ft. of the store. The folks there said "don't worry, it's private property," referring to the parking lot. Presumably, customers cart their new guns out to their cars in just the boxes regularly (I need to clarify this with the store folks).

But until I can get absolute certainty about the conflicting matters of "private property" vs. "public space" on private property (which a parking lot is) and how it pertains to the school zone laws, I'd prefer to play it safe and have the guns locked up when I leave the store.

The problem repeats itself when I get to my apartment parking lot, which is almost certainly in another school zone.

The pistol won't be too much trouble, since it's relatively small. But there are two long guns I have to deal with as well...

I have the exact gun you have and it fits on the range bag below:

Very nice bag! I will seek it out.

          Thanks for the tip.

Hmm, I'll have to do a double-take on that green plastic Ruger case to see if it really can accept a lock...

That's an interesting box. I'll keep the link on file.

              Thanks for the input!

I have two of the dial-lock versions of this case and they work very well.

Doesn't it already come in a factory hardcase? You can pick up a cheap combo lock for transportation.
