    .22LR 1911 Kimber conversion?

does anybody have experience with this?

i've been wanting to shoot my 1911 more often, but i'm having a hard time shelling out the cash for .45 ACP.

does anybody know if the kimber .22 conversion kit is compatible with my springfield armory GI .45 1911 or any other make?

is the conversion kit pretty accurate and reliable?

    thanks!

it should work fine on any 1911. I use it on my 4" pro carry and it is flawless. the downside, the mags are 30 bucks each.

they are also plastic, which has not been aproblem for me yet. I have not had one ftf, fte or any other problem with it, i have put over a thousand rounds through it. the only bummer is the slide does not lock back on the last round, but otherwise, i am very happy shooting 5 cents a round ammo instead of 60 cent a round!

I have one too. It works very well on my Kimber TLE/RL. It is made by Ceiner. The finish is very nice on them.

Another happy Kimber conversion owner here. As mentioned above, no slide lock after last round is a bummer. Otherwise, they are GTG. I have used mine on a couple different Kimbers and a SA Operator with no issues. Mags are plastic but hold up well.

I've been shooting one every week for about the last three years.

As noted, the mags are plastic and you should be aware that you need to change the mag springs and the recoil spring approximately every 1K rounds for maximum reliability.

Very accurate with CCI mini-mag solids.

Except for the interior - all the black flaked right off on mine within 1K rounds.

It used to be, however Kimber now makes them.

I bought mine on gunbroker with two extra mags for less than msrp to my door. Look around for the deals.

My Kimber conversion is very accurate and just a few FTF for 2k rds, you have to count rds and stop after 10 rds. I bought it from Midway on sale for $289, extra mag $19.99.

I believe these are manufactured by Ciener for Kimber. I have the Ciener version and love it on my Springfield Enhanced Mil Spec! The only down is that in California I’m only allowed 10 round magazines not 15 round magazines. I installed a slightly weaker hammer spring from Wolff, the next weight down from factory standard, and function with both the regular 45 ACP slide / barrel and conversion kit has been 100%. Mine punches out a 1” bulls eye at 10 yard with anything I feed it; Augila 60gr subsonic, Remington Subsonic, and standard Remington 550 round bulk from WalMart. While I get breach flash with the Augila 60 subsonic in my Ruger 10/22 rifle I get no breach flash in the 1911 conversion.

                            Cheers,

I'd recommend an advantage arms kit over the kimber. Last round hold-open is just great. No need to load an empty casing to prevent dry-fires if you lose count.

                              Accurate, too.
