Im currently looking into buying my first pistol. I shot a few at the range and really liked the sig 226 9mm. I know they offer an option of night sights but they didnt have that there to shoot. Are the night sights much different than standard ones. What are the pros and cons and where can a get a good deal on a 226 in so-cal.I would really appreciate the help guys.

sig 226 night sights?
Tags: None -
I just installed my second set of trijicon nite sights on my Sig 229 and Glock 19. I agree with ryang, they should be on any firearm that may be used for self defense.
The only con is that they will need to be replaced every 10-12 years. When the battle drum beats, it is too late to sharpen your sword."

Night sights will appear the same as standard white three dot sights by day, but in the dark they will appear as soft glowing (usually green) very distinct and visible three dot sights.
There is no downside to having night sights and they could give you a tremendous tactical edge at night.
I know they may seem expensive but, as mentioned in the previous posts, they are a must on a gun you may stake your life on.Comment

Some good points on night sights but, how is, on average $100.00 over the next 12 to15 years seem expensive? This is like $9.00 a year.Night sights will appear the same as standard white three dot sights by day, but in the dark they will appear as soft glowing (usually green) very distinct and visible three dot sights.

night sights are useless unless you positively identify your`e target as threat or no threat, don`t forget you`re flashlight! you have to know what you`re about to unload on. quality mounted or handheld flaslight is recommened.Night sights will appear the same as standard white three dot sights by day, but in the dark they will appear as soft glowing (usually green) very distinct and visible three dot sights.

Thanks for the information guys. I just talked to Ernie he seems to have the best deal going. I was considering the 226 navy but it doesn't come with the night sights. I may possibly add them being it comes with three clips and is less expensive than the standard with night sights. Is the overall durability of phosphated internals worth it? Just thinking of possible situations like if the firearm comes in contact with water.Comment

To the OP:
The night sights are just easier for me to use, I have a harder time aiming with the standard sights. I PM'd you if you want to try out a 226 with the night sights, let's see if our locations permit.
