    Replacement Mag for SW 1911

I need to buy a couple more magazines for my 1911. What are your opinions on the Wilson Combat vs a regular SW mag.
    Thanks

I use Wilsons in all my 1911 types w/o problems, but some guys swear by MecGar.

I've had horrible luck with the Wilson I bought for m RIA 1911. For some reason it doesn't raise the slide release enough to actually catch the slide on the last round so my slide either goes half-forward or all the way to battery.

I use Wilson Combat 47D mags in both of my SW1911s and they work great. I also use Chip McCormick mags with no problems, but the word on the street is to only use these if you have a steel framed gun.

Only 1911 mags I use at all are Wilson Combat ETM or 47D. Factory mags go in the box the gun came in, only to be brought back out when/if I sell the gun.

They are more expensive than other magazines, but I just don't see how any mag could possibly be better. They are tough as nails, and you can run thousands of rounds through one before it even starts to hiccup. Easy to load, easy to disassemble, completely ubiquitous, the list goes on.

In a steel framed pistol I prefer Chip McCormick PowerMags or even their less expensve Match Grade mags over Wilson. For Aluminum frames I use Wilsons - but only because the McCormick mags can damage an aluminum (but not steel) feed ramp. Wilson makes great magazines but I like the beefy springs used in the McCormicks better.

MidwayUSA has McCormick Match Grade mags on sale for $17 ($3 off). The same price as their low cost Shooting Star mags.

All my 3 1911s mags are exchangeable and never got FTF so far of 3000 rds through them. ( Kimber, SW and Les Baer)

Try out Tripp's Cobramags, CMC Powermags and Wilson's 47D/ETM

Those are the most popular. I use all three with success so I have no preference.

I use S&W mags for the range as they work very well. My wilson mags rarely get used. The 10 rnd PowerMags also work very well, but they tend to get loaded with hollow points as they are more robust than the S&W ones.

For range use, S&W ones are fine.

My old SW1911 seemed to like the Wilson's and also the Mec-Gar's. I believe my Mec-Gar's were around $24 each at CheaperThanDirt.

How many rounds? Trophyshuntingear.com has 8-round Blue Mec-Gar with plastic bottoms for $14.09. They're currently out of 10-rounders until year-end.

I just bought two nickel p228 mags from them and with Priority Mail, I got them in 2 or 3 days.
