Ruger Bisley .45 Colt

Who's got one of these and what can you tell me about it? Am seriously considering ordering one. Great fan of the .45 Colt cartridge but do not care to fire it in my Colt SAA. Think the Bisley grip frame will be much more comfortable to shoot heavy loads. Any advice/recommendations appreciated.

I happen to be a big fan of the 45colt , My first centerfire handgun was a ruger blue Bisley in 45 colt with a 7 1/2 icnh barrel , after alot of practice i was able to shoot it pretty well .
The bisley seems to have a love/hate following , there seems to be just as many that hate as love it. The recoil difinetly feels different with the bisley and to me its tolarable with the hot loads the rugers are capable than the blackhawk i have in 45 colt. Many of the custom gunsmith will only use a bisley gripframe for there heavy recoiling conversions.
I shot the first bisley so much that the blue is worn off the gripframe and trigger guard , after countless thousands of rounds I built a identical one in stainles as there was no factory offering . I did alot little custom touches , I installed a belt mountain base pin ,opened the cylinder throats to .4525 recut the forcing cone to 11 degrees and installed a wolf spring kit and polished up the hammer and the outside of the gun. not the best pic but here ya go

It was the second handgun I bought, and it's still my favorite gun to shoot. I don't know if it's the grip ergonomics or what, but it is very comfortable to shoot. That big slow round outta that gun is very easy on the hand.

It's one of those handguns that I love, but haven't got around to buying yet.

The Bisley grip is great on original Colts, and the modified Bisley on the Freedom Arms guns is great too.

When I run across one, I'll pick one up.

Personally, I love the Bisley grip. I've had a Casull for 20+ years and it's true that they are best for high recoil accuracy. In their day they were the bullseye gun of choice.

Ruger Bisley frames are the basis of superior custom firearms. The strength is unparalleled and once a custom gunsmith has their way with them, they are an ultimate firearm.

As is, you can go to the Ruger/TC section of your reloading manual and push 255g bullets @ 1200 ~1400fps.
