    Bulgarian Makarov

I noticed that the Century Arms Bulgy mak's are set to come off the roster soon, and I was wondering if you all think that it is going to get re-newed, or should I hurry up and get one. I don't really want to rush into a purchase, but I want to get one before it comes off the list if that is the likely outcome. If the latter, has anyone seen one around socal recently? I just missed one a few weeks ago in the for sale forums, and you never know when one will pop up. Besides the internet auction sites, does anyone know of other sources for these pistols. I found a great deal with Florida Gun Works, but I have heard lots of BAD things about them. Thanks for the help

Looks like the exp date is 12/6/2010 so you have some time. I have a few different Maks and think they are great. Some are C&R and are off roster so you can have them sent to an 01 to be transfered..

SOG's got 'em for $275 unissued w/holster, extra mag, extra grips, lanyard.

and they will ship to Kalifornia...
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
      Come on...what harm??

Have you ever shot one? I've owned 3-4 over the years and don't own anymore Maks. I wanted to like them, but in practice I found they aren't very fun to shoot. The blow back design causes a fairly snappy recoil right into the web of my hand. For the same money you could find a non blow back gun in 9MM which I think is a better caliber than 9x18. If you've shot them than you know all about them and if you like them than that's great : ) I just thought maybe you've never shot one. I'm not trying to be negative, just sharing my experiences.

It was my understanding that they sold to dealers only, or those with an 03 FFL. I am neither of those, so will they still allow me to purchase from them. I saw those but figured I couldn't purchase from them

Only the East German or the original Soviet ones are on the C&R list so they are exempt from the list. I really enjoy the makarovs and if you find one thats a good deal, I would pick it up. However if you want one, you should try one out for yourself before you put the money down to buy one like all handguns.

SOG's cool. I ordered a Tokarev from them and had it shipped to my FFL01. As long as they say they'll ship the gun to CA, I think they will gladly take your money.

Makarov pistols are a family favorite and are one of the best pistols ever made. Makarovs were the Glocks before Glocks came to be.

+1 on this. The Pearce grips make it a fun, comfortable shooter, though might be a bit sticky for CCW, if that matters.

I like my Russki Makarov in .380 a lot - it's a much better shooter than the PPK/S, for instance. The trigger's long and springy and the sights are only decent, but it's accurate, reliable, and fun.
