I took my new 226ST yesterday to the Davis Street range, and finally broke it in. I have a new favorite sig now!! The heavier weight tames the snap of the 0.40. The snap is still there, but much more mild compared to when I shoot the 229 standard. I was a little reluctant to get the night sights, because I was concerned in the moderate lighting in Davis I wouldn't be able to see the dots as well as on a non-night sighted sig. I had no problems acquiring my sights, since Sig went with Meprolight, and they are more easily seen in the day. I did notice I was always shooting slightly high. I believe it was because I am so use to the Sig bar dot sight, that I was still trying to put the front dot, on top of an imaginary bar, that wasn't there.
One thing I did notice, and I am wondering if any other Sig 226ST owners out there notice - of all my sigs (220, 229, and now 226ST) this one has the most travel on the trigger on the single action pull. I feel like I need to squeeze the trigger all the way back to the grip before it fires. Is this normal?
I would have to rate the trigger feel as 220 the best, 229 next, and 226ST last. Otherwise it is a great gun. I don't if it was my imagination, but because of the longer sight radius, I was doing a better job at the 15 yard line with the 226 than with the 229.
