    Sig 226 Stainless 40

I took my new 226ST yesterday to the Davis Street range, and finally broke it in. I have a new favorite sig now!! The heavier weight tames the snap of the 0.40. The snap is still there, but much more mild compared to when I shoot the 229 standard. I was a little reluctant to get the night sights, because I was concerned in the moderate lighting in Davis I wouldn't be able to see the dots as well as on a non-night sighted sig. I had no problems acquiring my sights, since Sig went with Meprolight, and they are more easily seen in the day. I did notice I was always shooting slightly high. I believe it was because I am so use to the Sig bar dot sight, that I was still trying to put the front dot, on top of an imaginary bar, that wasn't there.

One thing I did notice, and I am wondering if any other Sig 226ST owners out there notice - of all my sigs (220, 229, and now 226ST) this one has the most travel on the trigger on the single action pull. I feel like I need to squeeze the trigger all the way back to the grip before it fires. Is this normal?

I would have to rate the trigger feel as 220 the best, 229 next, and 226ST last. Otherwise it is a great gun. I don't if it was my imagination, but because of the longer sight radius, I was doing a better job at the 15 yard line with the 226 than with the 229.

Congrats on you P226ST! SIGARMS will no longer make the ST in that configution, so that's a keeper.

I think your SA trigger issue is pretty normal. Not all SIGs have the same SA action "feel" across the model line. In your mind, you are expecting a P220 SA "feel" on your P226ST but just remember, they are different animals. Though they came from the same stable, they have slightly different internals and dimensions and that could translate into a different "feel".

You always have the option to have it re-tuned in the factory or with GrayGuns.

    Cheers!

You are probably right, I had my 229 before I had my 220. The first two trips with the 220, I had to adjust to the feel of the trigger, and of all things, the feel of the decocking lever. The 220 drops the hammer on the downswing, and the 229 drops the hammer on the upswing.

I just dropped by sigforum a second ago, and I didn't realize the ST line is being discontinued. What a shame, this is a great line. I suppose the ST line is pretty heavy for LEO and continued carry, I would have to guess Sig makes more money from the LEO side then the civilian market.

I don't own the 226ST but own a 220ST. The ST's are great guns and tack drivers indeed. My P220ST is one of the first original ST's which came with sport model frames aka worthless piccatiny rails. But it has been almost flawless, accurate, and reliable for 2500 rounds in a row with all sorts of ammo. One or two FTF during the first 200 rounds but I think it was the ammo. Congrats on the new gun. ST's shoot like a dream, but after a while I started liking the alloy frmaed ones again. The weight after a few hundred rounds can get to you.

I have the Sig 226ST .357 and use it as my duty weapon. It's a great weapon with the night sights and my TLR-2 light/laser.
