    New XD40 Tactical

Pics of the new XD40 Tactical I bought. After selling my G23 and G27 a few years ago, I figured I needed to get a new .40S&W since I only have 9mm and .45ACP (I don't shoot much pistol anymore). I bought this partly because my dad wanted a .40 to shoot, so I figured he could borrow this whenever he feels like it.

No loads for it, yet, since I've never loaded for .40S&W before. But I have the dies, 185gr Precision Bullets, Starline brass, and plenty of Titegroup on hand. Amazingly enough, I won't be at the range this weekend, so I won't be able to test loads, much less fire it, come the weekend after.

I'm a bit disapppointed with the trigger though. I dry fired it many times and it's breaking under 7lbs. Weight is not the problem, it's the take up. I'm going to run at least 500 rounds through it before I send it off to Springer Precision for a trigger job to eliminate the take up and overtravel, and hopefully get it at 3.5-4lbs to break. Match rifle triggers have spoiled me.

    nice pistol

I know what you mean about the majority of factory triggers. I shot my sister's P228 for a number of years before buying my USP40. Both go bang when someone pulls the trigger, but the HK's trigger leaves much to be desired in terms of feel.

      You won't be disappointed

I have a friend who has the service in 40. I've tried both a G23 and the XD40, which he has both of, and prefer the XD. The ergonomics of the XD feel better to me than the Glock. Of course I'm biased since I bought an XD9 service and tactical last year.

Neat case. Free holster and mag carrier. Cool.
Any plans to get a 357SIG barrel?

Not really. I'd rather spend money on the trigger job and Bomar sights. Plus, I'm not in the mood to load for another pistol cartridge right now.
