Great gun. I have the S/A type, has a light/laser rail, you can swap out the backstrap, 10 rnd mag. Recoil is not bad at all, shoots very straight. I think this gun does not get the credit it deserves. Made on the same machinery that makes the military firearms for the Gov.

I like mine. Shoots better than I can. Do a search, there are some other threads.

Like a sig As far as controls and operation. but cheaper. Plus American made. Good gun one of
        my top choices.

Highly under rated. Feels great in my hand, not to say it will in your daughters but does have two back straps... minimal recoil and easy to get back on target.. I have about 900 rounds through mine and not one failure. American made and for the price, $499.00 at Bass Pro Shops, I think it is one of the best deals around.

I've got one and I love it. 16+1 if you don't live in CA and they come in .45 too although they're not on the list. Mine is SA/DA with the ambi de-cocker quite crisp SA and DA is pretty nice as well. If you can find an FNP 9 from made in Virginia those are made for the military. The civi ones are produced in South Carolina.

Feels like my Sig 229. The trigger pull is cool, it feels like you are pulling straight back even though the trigger is curved like everybody else's. I have no doubt that this gun will be getting some noteworthy LE contracts as time goes on.

I had played with one a bunch before I actually got a chance to shoot one and hated it based on the trigger. The trigger is pretty bad. It's very heavy and not that smooth.

But then I got a chance to shoot one, and I have to say they really are great guns. FN has always made a great product, and the FNP9 is up there in quality. The trigger was still crappy, but regardless I was able to group pretty well with it. The recoil is nonexistent! If your daughter has flinching issues or recoil issues, she'll LOVE this gun. That was the biggest thing that surprised me about the gun.

Also, since many girls have issues with grip size, the FNP comes with 3 different back straps that let you tailor the grip size to your hand.

Currently, the only polymer-framed handgun I own is a Sig Mosquito, but since playing with the FNP I've actually been considering owning one.

I would send it in for a trigger job though

I've got one too and I also love it. Comes with 3 mags, a lock, and the requisite clamshell box. The controls are just like Sig except the decocker and slide release are reversed. That said...

The trigger is a little weird. It takes getting used to... BUT... you will get used to it very fast. Mine shipped with sights that were a little bit off but after getting them drifted into the right spot, the gun shoots nice tiny little consistent groups. Also the way the trigger is setup, it's very easy to get clean breaks but it takes a little work to keep the muzzle still when it does.

I'd have to say that the Sig SP2022 is the single most underrated polymer-framed semiautomatic pistol. The SP2022 is more accurate and easier to shoot. BUT, this one is not far behind. Plus, it's more compact and kicks less than the SP2022. The grip is small enough to accommodate the Hogue Handall too. All the operating parts including slide rail guides are replaceable and the gun field strips exactly like a Sig.

The only thing that I don't like is that the only kydex holster available for this pistol is the Blade-Tech standard kydex holster. It's exactly what I would choose anyway but the fact that there aren't any other choices makes me wonder if FNH will do the same fantastic job marketing these things as Steyr did with their M9A1s.

One more thing... again... almost no recoil... its almost like it has some sort of magic recoil reduction system. Its hard to describe without actually having you try it out yourself. I've owned a dozen different pistols and I've had to buy and sell several different polymer guns because I just didn't enjoy shooting them. I love shooting this one. BUT... just because I like it doesn't mean you will.

Yeah, that's what amazed both myself and by buddy who actually bought the FNP9 that I played with.

When we took it out for its maiden voyage, we were amazed at the recoil signature.

It's just got some kind of voodoo something-or-other going on inside to manage recoil.

I nearly bought a used FN 40 for my first gun since it was about the same price as my new PX4. But there was something funky feeling about the slide that made me uncomfortable.

I'm now wondering if that "something funky" was really "something special."

And a 3rd one, the one that comes installed on the frame.

                              3 back straps, 3 sizes.
