go to the place you originally took the test at. They can get you a new copy for a nominal fee.

as mentioned above, you can get a replacement from the instructor who originally issued it. It runs $15, and you keep the same expiration date. So, if you are 2 or more years into your current HSC expiration, it would be cheaper in the long run to just retake the test.

Yes. A replacement Handgun Safety Certificate (HSC) is available only through the DOJ Certified Instructor who issued your HSC. The HSC replacement cost is $15. The replacement HSC will reflect the same expiration date as your original HSC.

I think you could just go back to the FFL you took the exam and pay 10-15 bucks for a copy.

Call the DOJ. They sent me a copy two years ago. I think don't remember paying them at all.

                interesting.

How would DOJ have a copy of your HSC to be able to provide you with a copy? Does the instructor send copies of his paperwork to DOJ?

12808. (a) In the case of loss or destruction of a handgun safety certificate, the issuing instructor shall issue a duplicate certificate upon request and proof of identification to the certificate holder.
                (b) The department may authorize the issuing instructor to charge a fee not to exceed fifteen dollars ($15), for a duplicate certificate. Revenues from this fee shall be deposited in the Firearms Safety and Enforcement Special Fund, created pursuant to Section 12076.5.

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

I agree, I do not send them anything other than annually report the number of certificates issued. How could they possibly send you a duplicate?

Instructors are required to keep records, that is why the above posts refer you to your original issuer.

Frankly, unless it is just as convenient, I would retake the test and get a new expiration date.

I didn't think that was the case. I'd guess that FatonCoke was mistaken.
