    Colt Commander upgraded

In 1992, I bought this stainless S80 Enhanced Commander. From the get go, it was a PITA. Under warranty, Bain & Davis made it right, but the pistol just never grabbed me and in 1993 when I bought a Springfield Milspec, the Commander got regulated to only occasional use.

Finally, I decided to do something about it. I sent the pistol off to Tripp Research with a list of things I wanted changed. They did all the gunsmith work as well as the refinish. I am very pleased with the results.

How she looked a little while ago:

    How she looks today:

Carry bevel and a new bushing

Serrated front strap to match MSH

Matching top strap (got to decorate that flat slide Colt left blank)

Commander ring hammer and grip safety

A family photo (Yost 1* on a SA Milspec, the Tripp Commander, and a SA GI I gutted and rebuilt myself):

Turned out very nice! Virgil Tripp does good and clean work. How does she shoot?

        I really like that!
I especially like how the serrations don't just stop at 90 deg square but "taper" to a point, very clean looking to my eye.

I will get to the range on Thursday.

This weekend my son's social calender was full. Who knew a 4 year old would have so many social obligations!

            Very nice.........

I just sent off a beat up Colt LW Commander frame to Robar for a NP3 refinish, once I get it back I'm doing a build-up of it, now I know what to shoot for............
