P2000 and Wolf

This isn't another 'how does steel shoot thread.' This is a 'I shot Wolf in my new P2000 today and it failed to eject time after time and I had to continually unjam it until I shot the whole box and I'm not buying Wolf ever again, thread.'

Thoughts?

The gun would 'FTE' the first 2-3 rounds on every magazine. I shot ~200 rounds of WWB/Federal and not one problem. The Wolf was awful! Is it because it's a new gun and needs to be broke in or what?

P2000? Nice. Probably not the rifle.
Assuming good mags, I would buy a chamber brush and clean it really well as this is a "new" weapon.
AR rifles need this also. Even when first assembled or purchased complete.
I used to believe all the FUD about Wolf "poly coated" until I tried the no non-sense approach to the problem. Good mags! + Clean it with the right tools/lube/cleaners.

It got a good cleaning after we shot today and a couple of quick runs of a bore snake during shooting. I'm using HK factory mags so I assume that's not the problem. Regardless, it's a lot easier (and cheaper) to find WWB/Federal around here then it is Wolf anyway. I just wanted to see how it shot.

Sounds to me your gun doesn't like the steel casings. Ran 100 rounds of wolf through my G-22 without any problems what so ever. First time shooting that gun too. Like you I prefer the cheaper federal also, just higher quality looking stuff.

I tried to shoot the Wolf ammo thru my Kimber .45 the other day at The Firing Line in HB just to try it out.

The TFL employees confiscated it from me upon my arrival (it was of course returned to me when I departed without issue) stating safety concerns which I found ridiculous. Whatever... their range, their rules...

I think the real reason was that they could not police up my expended casings and reload them for resale.

I was worried they wouldn't let me shoot the wolf stuff. Have read several places that indoor ranges may not let you shoot it for various reasons. I showed the guy and asked if it was cool and he said they have no prob with it. My guess is the ranges that ban it either they don't want to sort it out or they have some misconception about it being steel core.

My P2000 9mm loves Wolf. IMHO, Wolf is hotter than WWB, but both function perfectly in mine. In fact, I have never had one single malfunction with any ammo in any of my HK's (9,40 & 45).

I've shot about 1k rounds thru my P2000 and never had any problem with that or any other cheap Russian steel cased ammo.

I assume yours was from a bad batch. HK has excellent QC. not too sure about Wolf. If you have any unused 9mm Wolf, feel free to PM me. I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands.

P2000 is an H&K handgun, not a rifle.

I've never had any problem with any ammo. Check your extractor and make sure there is no buildup, and make sure your chamber is really clean.

Interesting, I try to avoid steel case ammo on the feeling that steel wearing against steel is not a good idea---I own several HK pistols including a P2000 in 9mm and it has shot everything (including Blazer alum. case) I put in the magazine 100% no failures of any kind---I do not shoot Wolf brand ammo or any Chinese ammo in any of my guns long or short.

I used to blow thousands of rounds of wolf through my usp.c Figured it was a good way to practice shooting. Sounds like you got a bad batch?
I've also heard things about the way the cases expand on a newer gun it may stick a little. Never had that happen to me though. Shoot a bunch, scrub the piss out of it, see how it works then. Save the wolf for a few range trips from now. If its still jamming constantly check the cases you pull out for weird marks or why they are sticking.

my old p2000 didn't like wolf. in an air-conditioned, indoor range, after about 20rd, the coating would stick to the chamber and wouldn't eject. at an outdoor range in the sun, it stuck after 4rd. once i got it home and it cooled down, it popped right out. no other ammo ever did that in my p2000 (incl gold dot, wwb, blazer, etc).
