    Springfield EMP

Now that these have been out for a little while, have any of you heard anything good or bad about them?

I've been thinking about purchasing one. They sell for $1049 at Turners. Does anyone know of any better prices at their local shop?

    Thanks!

I'd be interested in feedback as well; got to handle one at my local gunstore last week and I've had lust in my heart ever since. That is one sweet little pistol.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow. I'll have pics up in few days and hopefully a range report tomorrow or Wednesday.

        That would be awesome.

I'm actually a little mixed on this pistol. Obviously it's designed from the ground up as a carry piece and it looks (on paper) like it will excel in that role.
But in my head I'm trying to justify the added cost for all the "carry enhancements" that to me are so much gilding on the lily. For me, this pistol is a shooter and not a carry piece.

But is sure is sweet lil' thang!

I've read on a couple of 1911 forums that some of the EMP's are having problems feeding hollowpoints reliably. Supposingly by polishing the feedramps, these problems seem to go away.

My boss has one and he LOVES it. It is a tack-driver.
            No problems what so ever.

I had some houseguests over for awhile and couldn't get some pics. Finally, here they are:

bull barrel and EMP marked mag

lack of any front strap checkering or serrations. i find that, that coupled with the slim grip panels and and a smaller grip the grip twists around in my hand.

                kind of an odd-shaped hammer

slim grips and night sights round out the package.

                  with it's bigger cousin

i can't shoot it that well as i can the government size 1911, but i'm not a good shot to begin with anyway. the 9mm feels snappier in the smaller pistol and i don't have a really solid grip on it. it twists around in my hand.

build is great though. everything is nice and tight.

I was actually thinking about it for my girl; I have 1st Gen Kimber CDP compact, which is essentially the same thing in .45; two tone with fancy wood grips. And yeah she likes the Kimber 'cause it's pretty but is not a big fan of the .45 recoil. She has a Sig 228 that she really enjoys, so I was thinking that the EMP in 9mm would be a great fit.
