    Gen 4 Glocks

I thought the RTF Glocks were gen 4, but I opened up my newest gun mag and there is an ad for Gen 4 coming out in 2010. I did some quick research and see that they will be introducing the old slides (non-scallop) w/ a new frame that has adjustable back straps.

Can anyone confirm this information or better yet, any pics?

I haven't been up to date on gun news so fill me in. Thanks!

This has been all over Glock Talk. Haven't seen any pictures yet. Apparently Glock released this info on Facebook first?!?

Not quite sure about the old slides being offered but I could definitely see the combination of the RTF's and the adjustable backstraps that are supposed to be released. If they do offer the old slides on the RTF's that would be pretty sweet .

It would be nice if they added different frontstraps as well, so conceivable one can change the grip angle a little.

People have been calling the RTF the Gen 4 for a while. That was incorrect and now we have proof of that.

I'm their fan on FB and have heard nothing.

Anyone have a link to an official article?

                  This makes me wonder.
Also, the ad was first released on "Facebook" and then some magazines ran it.

Wait for 2010 SHOT Show to hear anything "offical".

RTF frames were never called the 4th generation by Glock to begin with.

The new generation supposedly has interchangable backstraps, double spring recoil assembly(like the sub compact version). Also it is rumored that the locking block part is different. Slides are not interchangable.

My guess is Glock decided to addess the tactical light and failure to feed problem by redesigning.

There should be some pictures floating in short time as the rumor I heard is that there is a convention for LEO/Mil.(IACP in Denver)

                    edit:
seems like there are a bit more detailed oservations out there

Changeable grip arches: easily accomplished and retained by the polymer pin. Imagine an SF frame with the permanent arch, add one to get standard size and the other to gain a size large.

Recoil spring: similar to a G30 or G27 recoil spring, feels different (have not fired it yet), unique to the new frame/slide and not intended to retrofit. This gun is reported to have over a thousand rounds through it, with the Surefire X200 in place. Others to be tested.

Reversible magazine release: slightly larger square surface. Magazines now feature notches on both sides and the center. #9 follower and #2 stamped on lower right of window side.

Slide grasping grooves: return to standard type. Thankfully!

Frame texture: less aggressive then the recent RTF frames. Think squares flattened on top. Gripping well with pressure from the sides or at an angle, but not painful.

Accessory rail: standard rail. This one with an X200 on it, others to be tested.

Glock night sights: retained by a screw, longer construction to keep the active portion away from the screw hole. Riveted style gone....thank god.

Slide: some reinforcement in the area of the slide that is just under the breech face.

                      Might not make the roster.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

If it's redesigned, it won't make the roster. Just like the Picatinny G21 didn't make it

The HK P30 is just a redesign of the P2000.

Sounds like the old pre-ban magazines won't work either, or would require modification at least.

I think pre-ban magazines still would owrk as long as the slide release is on the left hand side.
