Taurus 92 opinions?

Have one that literally fell into my lap at a very nice price, don't really need it, but I'm always happy to have another 9mm sitting around.

I was wondering what peoples "who have shot, owned or still own them" opinions are of them.

I've had my 92 adjustable sights since 1992. Never had a problem with it.

Was my first pistol. I still have it. No complaints, very accurate, handles well, never really had any functional problems. The breach face could be a tad easier to clean. It's also kind of big.

I have a 92AF that I've had 15 years or so. I've never had any problems with it. Accurate and reliable 9mm. I like the ambidextrous decocker feature-g

I had one, liked it a lot - really accurate pistol. I sold it to a fellow CG'er and I have to admit that I regret selling. It was a good gun.

This is a pre-decocker, with the wood grips, the original owner is still in possession of it and has only put about 400rds through it. I was blown away when I checked it out and noticed the bore was in perfect condition. Other then a few scratches in the grips and on the slide it is damn near brand new.

My Taurus PT-99AF I bought 25 years ago for $225 is one of the best firearms purchases I've ever made. No regrets at all and in fact as disposable cash allows, I'd like to get another one. I like the frame mounted safety on the Taurus as opposed to the Beretta's slide mounted hammer dropping safety.

I had the 92AF Satin Nickel finish, it was reliable and accurate enough for home defense. I wouldn't put it in the same level as the Beretta 92 I had. The Taurus grips made the feel a bit bulky. The trigger was not as good and the accuracy was way better on the Beretta. I'm not sure if it's fair comparing a $315 gun to one almost double its' price (90s). On thing is sure the Taurus was reliable enough for home defense.

It's the only centerfire semi I will buy from Taurus. If it's around or under $300, I say take it. I like its frame mount safety much more than the Beretta version.

My good friend and gun smith will take the Taurus 92 over the beretta any day of the week. He said the design is far superior to the Beretta's and does not require a 6000 round overhaul. At his shop they rent guns and he said the Beretta's need constant cleaning and part replacement. The Taurus' have been trouble free.

Personally I hate the design. Think its way to bulky and heavy but my opinion does not change the fact that its a well made and reliable pistol.

I love my PT-99. I'd take a Taurus PT-92 or 99 over Beretta any day of the week.
