    Bulk Bullets

While AB962 may be overturned in court, I was thinking ahead that if my favorite vendors decide to end all ammo and bullet sales to CA, what else can I do. That got me thinking to having a relative send me bullets for reloading, and the cost to do so.

You can ship up to 70 lbs using the post office flat rate priority mail. The 8-1/2 x 11 x 5-1/2" box costs $8.95 to ship. Just curious, since I do not yet reload, how physically large is a box of 1000 45 ACP bullets? 2000? Would the Post Office ship these? It is NOT ammo, nor is it dangerous. 2000 230 grain bullets are 65 lbs. The Post Office won't be making any money on this!

If I can ship 2000 bullets for $8.95, from a relative, that is not too bad.

1,000 .45 projectiles will fit into a box of the above measure. Just tape it up really well.

Please note that the ammo restrictions won't go into effect until January 2011.

Should be doable but be prepared to go to your USPS Branch and pick up the box yourself. USPS is not like UPS or FedEx they will not deliver packages weighing over 50 pounds to your house. Well at least my USPS Branch won't after ordering 2 seperate orders from Montana Gold Bullets, I had to go down and pick them up myself twice!

500 LRN 230 grn about 9 pounds in the box, so times that by 4 for 2,000. Then again my math could be wrong too, I do not have a box of .45 to weigh atm.

I get bullets shipped to me all the time in the Flat Rate USPS Priority boxes. Close to 2000 45 cal 200gr SWCs or over 2500 38 cal 158gr SWCs will fit into one of the medium size Flat Rate boxes.

My postman does deliver them to me, but he backs his truck up my driveway and dumps them right onto my front walk. His usual comment is "here's your engine block", with sort of a sarcastic inflection to it.
