Glock Question, G26-G27-G33

I am in the market for a sub combact Glock, preferably the G26 in 9mm.

I understand the G27(.40) can be converted to .357sig(G33) with just a barrel swap and the same G27 mags can be used. I also understand it can be converted to 9mm(G26) with a barrel swap and 9mm(G26) mags. None of the conversions require the slide to be changed or the frame altered in any way.

My question is, can the G26 be converted to .40 and .357 the same way with the appropriate barrels and mag? If not, please explain why.

Due to the narrower breechface on the slide, a G26 cannot be converted to fire .40 Auto (like the G27) nor .357 Sig (like the G33). The G27 and G33 can be converted to each others' calibers through a barrel swap, using a factory barrel, and can be converted to 9mm through the use of a conversion barrel.

If you honestly prefer 9mm, just get a G26 and be done with it. A G27 or G33 with a 9mm conversion barrel is suitable for range use, but I would never use such a setup for defensive purposes.

glocks

With glocks you can go down i.e. .40 to .357 sig to 9mm but you cannot go up. If you intend on shooting 9mm out of your .40 if you expierience problems you will need to swap the extractor as well to hahve a clean running gun. I did it in my g35 and had extraction issues but it is easy. so for 9mm you will need a barrel, magazine, extractor and recoil spring.

Thank you very much everyone for the quick responses. I figured it had to do with the ejector/breach because the 9mm case has a smaller diameter.

I really want a P7M8 but unfortunately my budget doesn't allow for it. Especially for something that will sit in a drawer or a safe at work only to be used in an emergency.
