Has anyone installed a SIG Pro Short Trigger?

Hey guys and gals. I just ordered the SIG short trigger for my SP2022, and wondering if anyone has done this upgrade themselves?

Aside from ordering the SIG Gunsmith DVD, is there any reliable resource on this installation?

    Thanks

I tried it a long time ago and it didn't seem to improve the feel for me. I ended up going back to the original trigger. I've since given mine away. That said, it was very easy to replace....but don't forget to change the snapper sleave when you change the trigger otherwise the pin will tend to drift out.

Top Gun Supply could probably describe the procedure to you....its been so long ago i honestly don't recall what had to be done but it took little to no time at all to do.

        thank you

Thanks for the info. I did order the trigger and a new snapper sleeve, so I should be good to go. I just want a little more instruction on how to take the existing snapper sleeve out without damaging the pin...

I just got the email confirmation from Michelle at TopGunSupply, so I'll shoot her back an email to see if she has any more info.

It is my understanding is that a lot of the SP2022s sold today already come with the short trigger standard. If you purchased one of the more recent guns there is a good chance you already of the short trigger.

I would check out the SigForums or contact SIG with your gun's serial number to confirm this before you order any parts or install them. The SigForums also has all the information you want about doing the trigger swap.

My SP2022 did come with a short trigger which is a little bit to short for my liking but works better for my wife.

Here's a write-up, no video, on replacing a trigger on Sig handguns.

Unfortunately that is for the classic P series and not the Sig Pro. Its a little different, but will give you a general idea on how it works.

The short trigger doesn't change the way the trigger action feels, but instead changes the way you finger positions. So don't replace the trigger if you think it will change the action at all, because you'll be disappointed. It has no effect on the action , only finger placement.

Thanks for all the help, it actually looks like I might have the short trigger already but not 100% sure until my order arrives. I have a strong understanding on how the trigger mechanism functions at this point.

I just don't understand how you remove the pivot pin... do you push it out from the snapper sleeve side or do you push it through the snapper sleeve? This I might understand better when I get my order as well.

Anyways, any suggestions will help... so keep 'em comin'. I'll make sure to update you guys as well as I do this modification.

Easy way to check is look at the back of the trigger. If the back edge is flat then you have the short trigger, if the back edge has a cut out "channel" then you have the standard trigger.

If it does turn out you already have the short trigger, then I know TopGun will take care of you on the return!

Thanks for the tip Suvorov, but are you positive? Because I just received the short trigger and it has the cut outs you're talking about on the back. However, the original trigger that came with my gun is flat on the back.

Anyone know how to push out the trigger pivot pin??

Interesting, does the new trigger have a shorter reach?

It's hard to tell right now. I'll probably install it in the next couple of days. I just have to make the time and photograph everything as well so I can post it up.

Alright so I took apart the gun to check it out but couldn't separate the trigger from the trigger bar. It seems as if the trigger bar was keeping the trigger from coming out... any ideas?
