    What is it?


    What model is this. S&W .38 spl. bbl. is about 2" cylinder holds 5 rounds,Says MOD 60-? (?=illegible character) inside where the cylinder hinges.Story on gun goes,,,,,Mom got tired of having it around and gave it to Me.

    DOH! quick google search answered for me.It's a S&W model 60-4.

    It seems like a nice gun I remember shooting it when I was a kid almost 20 years ago.it shot well back then,it must be worth keeping.I think I'll keep it.

      Definitely a Model 60, Chief's Special Stainless. Yours is pre-MIM parts and will almost certainly be a very good shooter. It'll handle .38+P for defensive use, feed it standard pressure ammo for the most part, a little practice with +P and you'll be good to go.

      Those Pachmyr grips should make it relatively pleasant to shoot with. Definitely a keeper.
